"I ran through a brick wall for him." Alex Rae on Steven Pressley, who he worked under at Falkirk: Dundee "sitting fourth in the league" when most expected a bottom-six team, despite "three cruciates", Elvis's post-match on creating "a culture", one of "the silliest hats ever", and the backroom staff, Barry Nicholson, Scott Patterson and Davie Longwell. From The Football Show LIVE, Monday 19 October 2026.

...they'll play it into a difficult area so they can get those little triangles and the angles and away they go. But listen, take nothing away from Steven Pressley and Dundee, because you've got to be really positive about them, Roughy.
Yeah. I don't think at the beginning of the season anybody would have thought they'd be sitting fourth in the league. They think they'd be a bottom-six team. They've had three cruciates as well. Yeah. And whoever's identified the players that are there just now look as good as the players that he got on loan last year, and obviously they've moved on a bit and trying to tie most of them down and yeah they've got a fair gathering of really good quality players. I heard that... Just briefly, I heard Elvis's post-match. Yes, it was magnificent. And you know, he's... Yeah, absolutely. He says, "Yeah, I like to create a culture and things, and yeah, working with the boys." And he says, "The games, they get in the way, because I love this kind of connection I have with my team." And you can see it.
Well, you can see that connection, but the unfortunate thing about it from our perspective, Tam, because we are far more shallow when it comes to it, is he delivers what can only be described as, you know, this fantastic speech full of authority with one of the silliest hats ever, as if he's on Rainbow with Geoffrey. And he's just... I don't think Elvis is too bothered about the fashion police. He doesn't care. But does he...
I worked under him at Falkirk and I ran through a brick wall for him. It's no surprise they're doing well. He's emotionally... He gets into players' heads, and he gets you playing for you and it's not just about shouting and bawling. He just has a quiet word every now and again, and he says stuff like that you know about creating a culture and I'm absolutely certain that the boys, to a man, love him. Yeah.
Oh listen, you can tell by the way they're playing at the moment. It's absolutely... And can I just mention, though, that Barry Nicholson and Scott Patterson in the backroom are good guys as well, you know. Davie Longwell's there as well. Big Davie. Yeah, Davie's there too, actually. So, no. The thing is, we went up and played a bounce game a few weeks ago, and had a good chat with them there. Good football men, you know.
