Snooker's Mark Allen gave a raw, emotional interview after defeat at the Northern Ireland Open, saying he thinks he may give the sport up. Peter Martin, Hugh MacDonald and Gordon Parks ask: do sportsmen and women need dedicated mental health experts to deal with rejection and failure in public?
Plus: why the togetherness of former players' charity games can be its own kind of therapy.
"When it's over, there's no parachute." Peter Martin, Gordon Parks and Hugh MacDonald on mental health in sport after Mark Allen's interview at the Northern Ireland Open. Hugh on why "sport is absolutely brutal" and the chaplains at SFA clubs, Peter on Cyriel Dessers and Kasper Høgh, Gordon on the brotherhood of the dressing room and what happens to players when their career ends, PFA Scotland, and Dukla Pumpherston's charity game.
