"The lads thought it looked as if it was a penalty. A handball. And also looks as if an elbow as well." Martin O'Neill reflects on Celtic's dramatic last-second penalty winner against Motherwell — the decision that keeps Celtic alive in the SPFL title race and sends the championship to the final weekend at Celtic Park.
🟢 MARTIN O'NEILL ON THE LATE-PENALTY DECISION:
"Well, the lads have a little monitor beside me. It's very very small. I can't really see it too — need another pair of glasses. And the lads thought it looked as if it was a pen-handball. And also looks as if an elbow as well too. But listen — I thought we had a penalty in the first half. VAR cleared that one. So I wasn't sure."
🟢 ON CELTIC'S CHARACTER + THE COMEBACK:
"I thought the team — I know you'd know what I'm going to say — but we have shown a lot of character. We make mistakes during the course of the game, it's natural. Took a long, long way off after Tannadice. We've taken it to the final game, which is brilliant."
🟢 ON THE TITLE RACE — WINNER TAKES ALL AT CELTIC PARK:
"We have to win the game. Hearts don't have to win it. But at least we've taken it there. And it'll be a big day. It's nice to take it into the final game — which looked a long, long, long way off with what, five or six weeks ago."
