‘Tav WALKED OUT on us’ | Danny Rohl | Rangers 1-2 Hibernian. "He didn't accept that he will not start today, and then he stayed away from the team — and that is the story." Danny Rohl confirms James Tavernier walked out of Rangers' final home game of the season after being told he wouldn't start the farewell match at Ibrox. Rangers lost 1-2 to Hibernian. Rohl signals a "strong cut" coming this summer.
🔴 ROHL ON THE TAVERNIER WALKOUT:
"The full picture today is a mural from some things on and off the pitch. I was very transparent with [Tav]. I thought and I wished him that he get some minutes. You can think about, yeah, start or not start — I think this is exactly my decision because this is the reason why I'm the manager. And finally, he didn't accept that he will not start today — and then he stayed away from the team. And that is the story."
🔴 THE BUILD-UP:
"James was going to get an injection on Tuesday. Then my thought because I thought, po, this is maybe his last chance to play at home. I gave him a call — yeah, the call was then okay. And convinced him that he can move this injection maybe later. He said, 'Yeah, okay.' He will be available for today."
🔴 ROHL ON A SUMMER OVERHAUL:
"Today it showed me that we need a strong cut, strong changes to move forward. We cannot accept what we saw in the last four games — and this is what is our job, and especially yeah with me in lead to have for all these things. I will not accept this in the future and I'm very clear what we should do."
