St Johnstone 0-1 Celtic - Martin O’Neill is happy to get a hard fought win over St Johnstone for Celtic. Martin O'Neill admits his side "made it look very difficult" as they added pace in the second half to break down stubborn St Johnstone and keep their strong start to the season going. O'Neill praised a crucial save from Celtic goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, and is happy with the volume of crosses his side delivered. He also pays tribute to a St Johnstone team he says are just as impressive as St Mirren.
WHAT DID MARTIN O'NEILL SAY AFTER CELTIC BEAT ST JOHNSTONE?
O'Neill felt Celtic controlled the ball but needed more bodies in the box early on, credited a big Sam Johnstone save as an important moment, and said his team grew into the game with more pace after the break to get the goal and see it out. He was pleased with 35 crosses into the box and how confidently Celtic defended late on.
WERE CELTIC SURPRISED BY ST JOHNSTONE?
Not at all, said O'Neill, who had watched St Johnstone impress against Kilmarnock and Hibernian and compared them to a St Mirren side that pushed Celtic all the way at the weekend.
