‘We write OUR OWN scripts’ | Derek McInnes Press Conference | Celtic vs Hearts - "We write our own scripts." Derek McInnes faces the biggest 90 minutes of his Hearts career — Saturday's SPFL Premiership title decider against Celtic at Celtic Park, 12:30 KO. The Hearts manager talks belief, courage, the Sir Alex Ferguson messages, and the "pure box office" final-day showdown.
🟦 DEREK McINNES — VERBATIM:
"Tomorrow with everything it entails — that just gets amplified. It's pure box office. It's been a long time, I think, since both teams who could win the title go head-to-head."
"The confidence I feel in the players is so strong. We have to go there with courage. We have to go there with belief and be bullish with our work."
"There might be a feeling that people think everything's back on script now — Celtic won their home game, won the league, and that's what Celtic have done for the last wee while, they've been the team that win more titles. But we've ripped the script up so often this season and we've got one more in us, I think. It's up to us to try and make that happen."
🟦 ON SIR ALEX FERGUSON:
"Earlier in the week, yeah, ahead of the Falkirk game. And he sent me a brilliant message yesterday morning. A brilliant message actually. Took a lot from that, and no doubt I'll speak to him before tomorrow."
🟦 THE SATURDAY DECIDER:
- Celtic vs Hearts at Celtic Park, 12:30 KO
- Hearts: win OR draw = champions for first time since 1959-60
- Celtic: must win
- 60,000 Celtic Park crowd, 750 Hearts tickets
- Don Robertson referee, Kevin Clancy on VAR
