‘We’re not here for a day out!’ | Neil Lennon | Scottish Cup Final 2026 | Celtic vs. Dunfermline - Neil Lennon faces the press 48 hours from Hampden. Dunfermline take on Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final — and the Pars manager isn't conceding an inch.
The full press conference covers five things:
00:00 Dunfermline Team News — "The players are nice and calm."
00:35 The Scottish Cup underdog story — Neil Lennon's history of pulling off upsets
A journalist drops a Barcelona reference; Lennon won't dignify the tactics question . The proof's in the pudding: Hibs, Aberdeen and Falkirk all beaten on the road to the final.
01:13 Underdogs BITE — Neil Lennon on facing Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final
"It's not a day out for us. I've seen a lot of comments this week about Martin picking up the trophy with Callum McGregor — if he'd have been here earlier he'd have won the treble. I wouldn't dismiss us. We're the underdogs. Underdogs bite." Asked if that annoys him: "Yep. So it just adds fuel for me. So it's great. And it's disrespectful — which again, I don't mind."
01:55 Has Neil Lennon spoken to Martin O'Neill?
Lennon confirms he spoke to Martin O'Neill last Friday, the day before the title win. "He's in good form."
02:18 Neil Lennon vs Martin O'Neill
"The reality's sort of kicking in, getting your professional head on. But it'll still be surreal — considering how long I've known him and what he's done for my career. Not just since I stopped playing football, during my management career too. I couldn't ask for anyone better to learn from. And it doesn't surprise me what he's done this season, even at the grand age of 73. He's an amazing guy. He's also an amazing manager. It'll be a privilege walking out with him on Saturday."
Two sides of the same Cup Final: defiance and respect. Underdogs that bite. A privilege walking out with the old boss.
Celtic vs Dunfermline Athletic in the The Scottish Cup Final kicks-off Saturday.
