Hibs manager David Gray gives a brutally honest assessment after a 3-1 Edinburgh derby defeat to Hearts, admitting his side were second best in a poor first half and that a "self-inflicted" red card killed their comeback. Gray was angry at avoidable goals and a passive start, but proud of the players who kept going down to 10 men, and returned to a familiar frustration: Hibs are creating chances but not taking them.
WHAT DID DAVID GRAY SAY AFTER THE EDINBURGH DERBY DEFEAT?
Gray refused to hide from it: "I can't defend or really understand the multitude of errors that come for the self-inflicted red card." He felt Hibs were second best and deservedly behind at half-time, but after pulling a goal back he believed the momentum was with them until the sending-off changed the game. He took responsibility himself: "I certainly need to own it, it's my responsibility."
WHY DO HIBS KEEP LOSING GAMES THEY COULD WIN?
Gray pointed to a recurring theme: Hibs are creating more than enough chances but not taking them. "If you look back at the games we've lost this season, we could have won every one of them if we take our chances." He insisted the margins are fine and remains optimistic about consistency once the squad settles.
