Why did Aberdeen hammer Motherwell 0-4 at Fir Park in the Scottish Premiership? Manager Stephen Robinson reveals the Dons changed their away-day preparation, the same routine that won them all their away cup games: leaving later instead of sitting in a hotel all day, dinner at Cormack Park and a walk-through of shape on matchday. But Robinson insists the real reason is simpler: "the players produced a really good performance."
He also talks belief in a squad going through big turnover, and warns there will be "bumps in the road" as the rebuild takes shape.
Stephen Robinson Post Match Interview (Motherwell 0-4 Aberdeen):
We did, for all the away cup games, which we won all of them. And we changed the preparation here. We leave a little bit later, instead of being at a hotel all day on the Monday, usually a Friday when you're travelling. We have our dinner at Cormack Park, and we went out and walked through some shape today, so they're not staying in the rooms all day, which isn't normal, you don't do that at home. So is that the reason we won? No. The reason is because the players produced a really good performance tonight.
Have you got a good feeling about it, what you're seeing in training and now what you're seeing on the park?
Yeah. And I won't get carried away, I've been in this game too long to do that, but I've got a belief in the squad. I believe it'll take a little bit of time to get where we want to go. As I say, I know what goes on in the background in terms of the amount of players that have left and the amount that have come in. And there's going to be bumps in the road, but I've got a belief in the group of boys that we've brought in.
