McInnes gets pelters as Hearts and Rangers share four goals
On The Football Show, PLZ reported from Tynecastle on a 2-2 draw, Derek McInnes's return and late friction on the touchline.
By PLZ Soccer,
Derek McInnes's return to Tynecastle drew a hostile reception, but on The Football Show the panel was clear that the football mattered more than the noise as Hearts and Rangers drew 2-2 on Wednesday night.
"It was all about the sideshow of what treatment Derek McInnes was going to receive from the Hearts fans on his return to Tynecastle," the panel said. "He did get pelters, but it didn't really matter because it was what was happening on the field that was important."
Hearts turn it round, Rangers hit back
Rangers went ahead through Kevin Kelsy after what the show described as slack defending by Hearts. After the interval, Hearts came out battling and levelled through Claudio Braga.
They then appeared to have won it. A Braga shot ran across the face of goal and took a slight deflection into the path of Calvin Miller, who side-footed it into the net.
With the game heading towards 90 minutes and Hearts starting to tire, Rangers were awarded a free kick for what was called "a rather soft foul". The ball was floated in and headed back across goal for the equaliser.
Touchline tension
There was "a bit of friction at the end" between Wouter Vrancken and McInnes. The show noted that neither made too much of it in the post-match press conference, but that both had been determined to win the game.
The panel's verdict on the night was that "it was entertaining", while adding: "It wasn't great football."
Elsewhere in the Premiership
Six Premiership games produced four draws and two wins. Celtic drew 2-2 with Dundee United at Celtic Park, and Dundee won at Dens Park. The show felt Motherwell will believe they dropped points against St Johnstone, having looked as if they were going to take all three.
The biggest story was at Pittodrie, where Falkirk won 1-0 against Aberdeen. The panel spoke of storm clouds gathering there and predicted "more moans and groans from the Aberdeen fans".
Attention now turns to the weekend's Scottish League Cup semi-finals, with Hearts facing Hibs and Rangers taking on Aberdeen.
