How long is Shankland out for? | Full Derek McInnes Post Match Interview | Rangers 1-0 Motherwell - Rangers manager Derek McInnes gives his full post-match reaction after a 1-0 win over Motherwell at Ibrox, a victory overshadowed by a worrying injury to captain Lawrence Shankland. McInnes confirmed Shankland's problem feels similar to the hamstring injury that kept him out for three months at Hearts last January, leaving Rangers without both of their main strikers, as Youssef Chermiti is also sidelined. With his forward line stretched, McInnes praised the "shrewd" deadline-day signing of Kevin Kelsy, who made his debut, and the bench impact of the matchwinner.
HOW LONG IS LAWRENCE SHANKLAND OUT FOR?
McInnes said Shankland will be scanned on Monday and did not want to speculate, but admitted it feels similar and in the same area to the hamstring injury that sidelined him for three months at Hearts. The striker picked it up without contact after a high-output game on Wednesday, and looks set for a spell on the sidelines.
WHY IS THE KEVIN KELSY SIGNING SO IMPORTANT NOW?
With both Shankland and Chermiti injured, McInnes said the deadline-day arrival of Kelsy looks even more significant and credited the club for the business. Kelsy made his debut but was not risked off the bench after only five minutes, having felt stiff and tight in training, to protect the number-nine position.
HOW DID RANGERS WIN IT?
McInnes felt the 1-0 scoreline flattered Motherwell, praising his side's clean sheet, organisation and persistence, the spark Minsu Kim has added to the attack, and a man-of-the-match midfield display driving the press. His only frustration was not adding a second goal.
