Jimmy Thelin Full Post Match Reaction | Aberdeen 0-0 Livingston
😤 Frustration & Responsibility
Thelin admitted he and the players share the same frustration as the fans after the 0-0 draw with Livingston. He stressed that it’s his and the players’ job to give supporters energy and belief, and right now the team isn’t doing that. He called for hard work and step-by-step progress to improve rhythm and results.
🎯 Missed Chances
Aberdeen created good opportunities in both halves but lacked the composure and timing to finish them. Thelin said when the team is out of rhythm, small details go missing. He urged his players to keep working and to connect better so performances can match results.
🏆 Short-Term vs Long-Term Goals
He acknowledged the big expectations at Aberdeen – qualifying for Europe and challenging for trophies – and said nothing has changed in that regard. While building a squad for the long term, the short-term focus must be on winning games now to lift the atmosphere and confidence.
👥 New Signings & Squad Rotation
Thelin praised new arrivals like Stuart Armstrong, saying he showed quality and will be an asset for the future. He explained that squad turnover is part of a long-term plan, but the current inconsistency in midfield selections and rhythm is affecting performances.
👶 Young Players Development
He highlighted the importance of building robustness in young players so they can perform consistently every week. Some will be eased in through certain competitions, while others are expected to deliver immediately. He remains confident that Aberdeen’s investments in youth will pay off in the future.
🏟️ Focus on Home Form
Thelin underlined the importance of showing identity, intensity, and tempo at Pittodrie, particularly in front of the home fans. He believes stronger home performances will help rebuild rhythm and momentum as they prepare for the upcoming cup game.
