Rangers legend Ian Durrant gives his verdict on a second straight Old Firm win, and where it leaves Derek McInnes' side in the title race.
Durrant is full of praise for a settled Rangers back line, with the new centre-half "outstanding" alongside Fernandez and Sterling, and reserves special mention for Ryan Naderi, who "didn't train all week and played a man's job". He loves the young midfield pairing of Nico Raskin and Dan Neil, and reckons McInnes has learned a lot about who he can trust over a decisive few weeks.
For Durrant, with Europe gone, the focus is clear: a cup semi-final against Aberdeen to look forward to, but the main aim is winning the Premier League.
Transcript:
I think ma has been outstanding Peter he's come in and well we came to the pedigree being a really good player he looks he's got a bit of solidity he's settled down big Fernandez me pen race has come in and done I think injured yesterday.
I thought Sterling was outstanding in terms of defensive qualities and in the top front now they they played their job yesterday they handle was get thrown him and Naderi now I don't think he trained all week played a man's job and I'm I'm loving the two in the middle of the park as well I think they're now again you look at the age of now Raskin and and uh Dan Neil and they're playing a part but it's a team thing and uh they've just got to keep that momentum stick together and uh there will be hard times but that's what you'll find out and I think Derek McInnes's found out a lot in the last few weeks about his team and how you can the word trust and how you can trust them you've been a winner with Rangers
Do you think the benchmark for this team is still win the title this season?
Of course that's that's your main a bonus uh you love to be in Europe but we're not in Europe so we can now focus on as I said we're in the semi-final a tough game against Aberdeen and you just got to keep going. Now you've got to just keep We all know Peter now Rangers health you've got to win and you've got to win but the main the main aim is to win that Premier League.
