Nordsjælland vs Hearts preview: Hearts FC manager reflects on his side's 5-0 performance vs St Mirren and the upcoming Europa Conference League game against Nordsjælland on Thursday.
Hearts manager Wouter Vrancken says "it's never good enough" after Hearts beat St Mirren 5-0 at Tynecastle in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday 10 October 2026. He believes Hearts "can improve in a lot of things", says his players have bought into his methods "from the first session", and looks ahead to Thursday's UEFA Conference League opener against Danish side FC Nordsjælland.
What did Wouter Vrancken say after Hearts 5-0 St Mirren?
Vrancken says the win is "a fair reflection" of how Hearts have been working, but "it's never good enough". He is pleased his players were "comfortable on the ball" and good out of possession, and hopes the result "gives more confidence in this run of games".
Is Vrancken happy with how Hearts are playing?
He says the players "liked what we're doing" from his first session and are "trying to do it and succeeding", but he wants them to keep improving "in every aspect of the game". After the 5-0 he says the dressing room isn't relying on it: the players are "eager to get back on the pitch" and "try harder".
Who do Hearts play next in Europe?
Hearts host FC Nordsjælland at Tynecastle on Thursday 15 October in the UEFA Conference League league phase. Vrancken calls Nordsjælland "a really good side, a lot of energy", competing for the Danish title against Midtjylland and Copenhagen, and says Hearts "will give our best there" and try to "make an extra step".

Wouter, is that a fair reflection of how you've been working to try and get this side to play?
I would say so. I would say so. But yeah, you know, it's never good enough. I think we can improve in a lot of things for sure. But it's good for the guys that they have such a game and feeling comfortable on the ball also and out of possession. We were good, so happy to see this, and hopefully it gives more confidence in this run of games.
As a manager, when you look at the way you played today, do you feel confident because you've got options and threats?
Yeah, I feel confident because of the players giving their best from second one. We stepped in here from the first session already and they liked what we're doing and they try to make those steps, and you see it today that they are trying to do it and succeeding. So let's hope that they get extra confidence in this and that we still can still improve in those things.
Can you give us an insight into what you're bringing to this side that hopefully can be reflected maybe against Nordsjælland on Thursday, because we all want to see Scottish clubs play better, understand European football better?
It's always difficult, of course, against... also they play for the championship there in Denmark against oppositions like Midtjylland and Copenhagen. So they have a really good side, a lot of energy in the side. And every game is different and every competition is different. So, but we will give our best there and try to show and maybe make an extra step also, because I think still we can improve. Also we played, although we play a good game tonight, still we can make some steps and in every aspect of the game. So, but when you see in the dressing room also after the game, they're not like relying on this. They're just eager to get back on the pitch and to make those steps and to try harder. And so this is the way they did it from the first second, and I'm happy to see it, because this is also the way that you improve the most.
