Shankland and Yokota out for MONTHS? | Derek McInnes | Rangers 1-0 St Mirren - Derek McInnes gives his full post-match reaction after Rangers edged St Mirren 1-0 at Ibrox with a dramatic stoppage-time winner, and confirms a double injury blow with both Lawrence Shankland and Daiki Yokota set for surgery in London. Substitute Bojan Miovski, the forgotten man among Rangers' strikers, pounced on a Ryan Naderi flick to chip Jacob Chapman and snatch all three points, moving Rangers up to second, as McInnes admitted his side battered St Mirren in a wasteful first half before riding out a strong spell from the visitors.
HOW BAD ARE THE SHANKLAND AND YOKOTA INJURIES?
McInnes confirmed captain Lawrence Shankland will have hamstring surgery in London to reduce the risk of a recurrence, adding a few weeks to his recovery, and revealed Daiki Yokota is also having a groin operation after tearing the muscle off the tendon, ruling him out for around two to three months. With Youssef Chermiti also sidelined, Rangers are down to three fit strikers ahead of Sunday's Old Firm.
WHO SCORED THE WINNER FOR RANGERS?
Substitute Bojan Miovski scored the late winner, latching on to a Ryan Naderi flick to chip St Mirren goalkeeper Jacob Chapman. McInnes praised Miovski's professionalism and calibre, and hailed goalkeeper Ivor Pandur for a crucial second-half save.
WHAT DID McINNES SAY ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE?
McInnes felt Rangers deserved the win, having "battered" St Mirren in the first half without scoring, but admitted his side made too many poor decisions during a 20-minute spell when Craig McLeish's impressive St Mirren were on top. He takes six wins from seven into the Old Firm double-header.
