Aberdeen vs Kilmarnock at Pittodrie in a match preview with an eye-catching contrast: the worst attack in the league against the worst defence. Aberdeen have scored just two goals in four games, none from open play, while Kilmarnock have shipped 14, their worst start to a season in their history, and arrive bottom of the table having lost their last five visits to Pittodrie. Neil McCann's side will look to striker Tyrese John-Jules, who has two goals and an assist in his last two against the Dons, while Stephen Robinson's Aberdeen need a convincing win to build confidence after last week's defeats to both halves of the Old Firm. It is also the start of a double-header, with the sides meeting again next week in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals.
Aberdeen vs Kilmarnock Preview Transcript:
It's Aberdeen v Kilmarnock here at Pittodrie: the worst attacking team so far in the league meet the worst team at the back in the four games so far this season.
Aberdeen have scored two goals, and none of those goals were from open play, in the same amount of time Kilmarnock have shipped 14 goals.
It's Kilmarnock's worst start to a season in their history. They come to Pittodrie bottom of the table, and it's a venue they've lost their last five meetings at. You feel if Neil McCann's side are to get anything from today's game, they'll look to striker Tyrese John-Jules, who scored two goals and got one assist in his last two games against the Dons.
For Stephen Robinson's side, you just feel it needs to be a convincing victory today. As I said, they've been leaking goals, and these Aberdeen attackers need some confidence going forward in the season. It's the start of a double-header with these two teams: of course, they meet next week in the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup.
Aberdeen are looking to bounce back from the two defeats against both sides of the Old Firm last week, the most recent being the 3-0 defeat at Celtic Park. Make sure you're following PLZ Soccer on all social media platforms, and I'll be at Pittodrie all afternoon to keep you right up to date.
