Csaba Laszlo adamant promotion still the aim for Dundee United

Dundee United manager Csaba Laszlo refuses to give up on promotion despite a nightmare run in the Scottish Championship.

The Tangerines are looking over their shoulders after slipping down to fourth in the table, and they could drop as low as fifth on Tuesday night.

Laszlo’s side travel to face Queen of the South in a game that could see their opponents leapfrog them after a run of four games without a win for the pre-season title favourites, but with three games in hand they could still climb quickly up the table.

Despite a poor run that has seen them drop to 20 points off top-placed St Mirren, promotion remains a target for Laszlo.

“I don’t think at he moment about St Mirren or the other teams,” he told the club website. “It is all about us at the moment, and we just look at ourselves.

“If you have a target and the possibility for promotion is there for so long, you can’t give up your dream.

“Promotion is massive for every team, but especially for us in our second year in the Championship.

“Everyone wants to see us back in the Premiership but you have to work hard for it, you don’t get it for nothing. I want to see us go through the suffering.

“It is not something that comes easy, you have to work hard. I don’t want any more talk about it, just go and do it.”

Livingston and Morton come head to head in a battle between second and third place with Jim Duffy’s side looking for an immediate reaction following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Falkirk.

Dumbarton will host Brechin – still without a win this season – while Inverness travel to out-of-form Dunfermline.

The Pars have not won in five outings put a win against Caley could reignite their hopes of a fop five finish.
