Celtic's Europa League meeting with Celta Vigo and Hearts' trip to Turkey to face Trabzonspor dominated The Journos on Wednesday 21 October. Peter Martin, Hugh MacDonald and Gordon Parks gave their verdicts on whether either Scottish side can get anything out of Europe this week.
Doubts over Celtic
Celtic go into the game on the back of a 7-1 win over Hearts. The panel considered whether they are about to come crashing back down to earth, and one assessment left little room for optimism: "I can't see them getting anything out of Celta Vigo."
The discussion worked through the front six, a midfield described as not "strong enough in Europe" and a back four with "problems". The panel also set out why "Colby Donovan's in for a long night".
Hearts in Turkey
Attention then turned to Hearts, who were on the wrong end of that seven-goal scoreline before heading to Turkey to take on Trabzonspor. The panel discussed whether Hearts should shut up shop and whether the aim should be to "save face".
Taken together, the two ties were framed as a test of whether Scottish clubs can come away from Europe with anything this week. Celtic arrive after a big domestic win and Hearts arrive after a heavy defeat.
Rodgers, Dortmund and big scores
The programme also covered Brendan Rodgers' night in Dortmund, a conversation that also brought in Vrancken. The panel finished by looking back at an 8-0 at Gretna and a 7-0 at Ibrox.
