"They're going to try and duck and dive." Peter Martin on Celtic's board: £77 million in the bank before the season, an AGM three weeks away, recruitment that's "absolutely woeful", and "a terrible and a sorry state" for Scottish football. Then Hearts 1-1 Nordsjaelland at Tynecastle, where Hearts scored first and "were wasteful in their passing".
Transcript:
I mean, let's not start making excuses in Scottish football or for Celtic.
Before this season kicked off, Roughie, they had 77 million in the bank. They're three weeks away from an AGM where they're going to try and duck and dive. They're going to try and pull what I call a Donald Trump out of this. They're going to work out how they can avoid facing up to the problems that they've created themselves.
That's what they're about to do, you know, and I'm surprised actually. You know what? I'm surprised. I'm surprised they haven't actually taken down one of the stands and built a ballroom for the board, you know? I mean, that is exactly...
Honestly, I'm surprised they've not put gold lily frames around all the hall of fame with all the board members on it because this is exactly what's happening at Celtic. They can attract good players, but the recruitment's absolutely woeful. They've decided on a calibre of player that they want to promote and it's not good enough. And the Celtic fans are not fooled by it.
Now, if they were battered last night, there's a comment that come on here which basically is the Scottish football's in a terrible and a sorry state and I think that nails it because I was at Tynecastle last night, Roughie Hearts scored the first goal and I thought... I was so impressed with Hearts against St Mirren. They scored the first goal and then they just I mean this side were mediocre. They weren't anything great, Nordsjaelland.
And then slowly but surely, they started to create chances. And I thought to myself, you know, Hearts are going to blow this. They're going to blow... instead of building on a goal in the 33rd minute. They just they were wasteful in their passing.
That comes down to belief as well.
