Celtic 11m in profit while Rangers spent 30m: 'They haven't strengthened the squad' - A look at why Celtic's board are happy just finishing top after winning the league 15 of the last 16 years, despite banking an 11million profit this summer while Rangers spent 25-30million. Also covers whether Oxlade-Chamberlain should be playing alongside McGregor instead of McCown.

Celtic banked £11m in profit while Rangers spent £25-30m and, the panel argue, didn't strengthen the squad at all.

The point on the show: this Celtic board look happy just to finish first. They've won the league 15 out of 16 times, so they think they're immune from criticism. Over the summer they only replaced the players who left instead of strengthening, sat on an £11m profit, and watched Rangers spend £25-30m to build a deep, quality squad that's now reaping the reward. The panel reckon it maybe needed Hearts to actually win the league last year for anything drastic to change at Celtic Park.

That Celtic board are just quite happy to finish first. They got away with it last year. They've won the league 15 out of 16 times, so they'll think they're immune from criticism. What do you want us to do? We've won the league 15 out of 16 times, so we know what we're doing, we're successful.

So maybe it needed Hearts to win the league last year for something drastic to happen at Celtic. But you look at the summer, Celtic have just tried to replace the guys that left. They haven't actually strengthened the squad. They were 11 million pound in profit. Rangers went out and spent 25 to 30 million pound, and they're getting the fruits of that now, because they've got a deep squad and a lot of quality in the squad. Whereas Celtic, you're thinking they're still weak in areas.

Luke Macau comes in, for example, out of nowhere. You've got Oxley Chamberlain there. Surely he goes in and plays beside Callum McGregor and you keep it quite solid in there. You play Macau, you hook him at half-time.
