Peter Martin reckons Dundee deserved their win. What do you think? Dundee won the Dundee derby 2-0 away to Dundee United at Tannadice, with Peter Martin reckoning they fully deserved it. Drey Wright lashed in the opener and a second goal was deflected into the net off a United defender from an Alan Forrest drive. The win sends Steven Pressley's Dundee joint top of the Scottish Premiership alongside Celtic and St Mirren, while it's worrying times for Jim Goodwin's Dundee United, who have scored just one league goal all season.

WHAT WAS THE SCORE IN THE DUNDEE DERBY?
Dundee United 0-2 Dundee at Tannadice. Drey Wright scored the first, and Dundee's second was bundled in off a United defender following an Alan Forrest drive into the box.

WHY ARE DUNDEE JOINT TOP OF THE TABLE?
The 2-0 derby win puts Steven Pressley's side level at the top of the Scottish Premiership with Celtic and St Mirren - a superb start, with the back line and man of the match Ryan Astley singled out for praise.

WAS THERE VAR CONTROVERSY?
Yes - a Dundee free-kick on the edge of the United box led to a VAR review by John Beaton that changed the decision, a call Peter Martin expects will be debated for days.

Dundee United 0-2 Dundee Reaction Transcript:

Dundee United nil, Dundee 2 and the city of discovery belongs to the dark blue this evening. Steven Pressley's men provided all the evidence that they wanted it more in this derby match. And one of the highlights of that was Drey Wright's opening goal.

Abdullah Yuro gave the ball away in the middle of the park. He didn't even bother to track back which would have infuriated Jim Goodwin. Drey Wright just marched on to the edge of the box and lashed the ball with his right foot into the bottom corner to give Dundee the lead and send the away fans wild with delight. There was a strange decision which I'm sure lots of us will discuss over the next few days, with VAR.

There was a free kick awarded to Dundee on the edge of the United penalty box. Uh Bruce Dickinson quickly gave a yellow card to Abdullah Yoro and then was instructed by John Beaton in the VAR room to take a look at the screen. He went over, had a look and then decided that Ryan Finnegan had committed the foul when it looked at all inside the stadium that he just fell on the ball. Strange decision, not one to dwell on over the 90 minutes and beyond.

Dundee showed the desire. Football wasn't great in my opinion, but sometimes in a derby match, it's all about those key moments. And there was another one for Dundee in the second half. Alan Forrest just drove the ball into a ruck of players in a condensed penalty area and owned Beavenon who was getting up.

The ball just clipped off his ankle and was directed into the back of the net and all three points belong to Dundee. I think over the piece their backline was absolutely superb and beon and the man of the match Ryan Ashley well worthy of that award.

They deserved all three points. They find themselves top of the table joint top with Celtic and St Mirren. Good start for Steven Pressley's men. The positivity around the way they play, the way they battle for their manager was there for all to see.

As for United, one goal scored in the Scottish Premiership this season. Worrying times for Jim Goodwin. I'm not quite sure where the goals are going to come from. Simon Murray was delighted at the end of the game.

He faces a long time on the sidelines, but he joined in with the rest of his teammates to celebrate that win tonight. It'll be the Dundee fans out in the pubs with smiles on their faces. They were well worthy of it. It finished at Tannadice. Dundee United nil, Dundee 2.
