‘Neither side were happy with a draw’ | Jim Goodwin reaction to Dundee United 1-1 Rangers
Jim Goodwin gives his verdict after Dundee United held Derek McInnes's Rangers to a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the 2026-27 Scottish Premiership at Tannadice.
The United boss was encouraged by plenty: a high-tempo, committed performance he felt edged the first 45, some strong individual displays and "some great passages of play." Lachlan Rose had the hosts ahead before Thelo Aasgaard levelled for Rangers just before the hour, and Goodwin admitted his side didn't manage the visitors' second-half reaction well enough.
His one regret? A gilt-edged one-on-one that could have won it, Jesse Randall's late chance held by Ivor Pandur — "we need to make a better choice in that moment" — though Goodwin backed his forward to take it next time.
"Neither of us were happy with the point," said Goodwin — the kind of performance he wants United producing consistently.
