Jim Goodwin was baffled by VAR after his Dundee United side lost 4-0 to Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup. The Dundee United manager took aim at Celtic's second goal, questioning the timing and the manner of it, and asked why VAR is there if it does not step in on the big moments: "I don't think there's a manager in the country that would want those types of goals going against them."
Jim Goodwin Post Match Interview Transcript:
"I know how reluctant referees are now to make decisions in the moment because of the VAR situation, and they're maybe hoping that the VAR guys will make a decision for them. But that second goal, for me, the timing of that goal so quickly after the first one and the manner of it, it just baffles me sometimes. I don't think there's a manager in the country that would want those types of goals going against them. And it's the whole reason why we pay for VAR, you know, to come in and assist the referees in situations like that when they don't see the big moments"
