"There was one person that deserved a statue at Ibrox. It was Walter Smith." Five years after he died, Peter Martin, Alan Rough and Tam McManus remember Walter Smith: the last time many saw him, at the Emmie Smillie charity golf day at Loch Lomond, his years learning under Jim McLean at Dundee United, Graeme Souness taking him to Rangers, two spells as manager and a European final, and the man away from football ("he loved a good noiser").
Then the Ballon d'Or ("Kane for me"), whether police should be allowed to unmask hooligans, and Man United: "the club's a poison, for me, from top to bottom."
