Okay, I'll call it bluntly then. He has come out with this message to the Scotland fans of how he's going to approach managing the team. Yes, this is his third game. This is a game that you say we have to go and win. Yes.
Okay. Put out a formation then that refreshes and puts the notion into the fans heads that he has got this approach and he's going to stick with it and he's got players they can put them into a shape and a system to deliver the message. Hold on a minute. You've given you've given us three variations there. All of them have to fall into place.
The first thing is you've got to have the players. Yeah, that's the first thing. The second thing is your system that you want to play. You might have players, but you might be looking and saying to yourself, and I'm going to give you two perfect examples here. You might have two players in there that cause you a problem in the system.
And one of them is got to get Ben Gannon-Doak in the team. And the second one which I think is the major one and certainly on the evidence of last night and you know in the last game as well Hugh is no Gilmour no playing football in the middle of the park. He is the linchpin of that team. He is because the other two midfielders who play alongside them are Premier League footballers, Serie A, but you know I mean they're big midfielders. McGinn's a great player and absolutely crucial to us right as a playmaker.
Sticks his arse in and he and he can and he can move the ball about. I'm sorry, Lewis Ferguson, for all the hype and for all those people who are elevating him to a status that the boy is not. He's not a he's not a 20 million pound player that Rangers were going to spend that money on. He's not a player that can actually go and break down defenses. Lewis Ferguson is what you call your classic rat-about midfielder.
He breaks up play and he gives it to somebody who can play. But that's brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. But don't elevate him to some kind of player that's a linchpin. That's what I mean.
