Transcript:

Hi, I'm Peter Martin. Join us if you can on PLZ Soccer's YouTube channel. We're on live at 4:00 today. Myself, Alan Rough, Tam McManus and Gordon Parks will be discussing last night's European results, and looking ahead to the League Cup over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I beg your pardon, because there's a small matter of an Ayr derby. Let's not forget Kilmarnock against Ayr United taking place tonight at Rugby Park. So, lots to talk about, lots to reflect on.

Of course, I was at Fir Park watching the magic of Motherwell, seeing off HJK Helsinki. It was absolutely a joy to be there to watch the football that Motherwell played and how they defeated HJK by two goals going on three, four, five. They were really good. Good passing, good finishing by Ibrahim Said, and a really impressive all-round display, not only by the team, but the fans were absolutely fantastic. Just over 8,000 there to watch that match. Magical times at Motherwell.

Elsewhere, worrying times at Rangers. A lot of people with knee-jerk reactions about Derek McInnes's side. Haven't got that win in his time as manager, four games, and a bit of panic now as they drop into the Europa Conference. Not great for Rangers. Not the level they want to be playing at. Everybody needs time to try and bed their team in. So Derek McInnes, the results haven't gone the way he would want, but nothing's been won or lost as far as the league's concerned domestically, the cups this season to play for, but European football will be a huge blow, because £5 million pounds is not a great deal to Rangers in the grand scheme of things of what's on offer at the Europa Conference level.

However, £5 million pounds to Hibs, good money if you can get it, because they were impressive. They went away to North Macedonia and managed to get a nil-nil against Shkendija. Great result for them. Not a great game, not one that will be released on DVD, but certainly one that David Gray will be happy with, because they now have progressed to the next round in the playoff to try and secure group-stage football. That would be massive for Hibs. See the contrast in expectation and delivery. David Gray and Hibs looking good, and as far as Rangers are concerned, well, a lot of soul-searching and a lot of signings still that I think the Rangers fans and Derek McInnes are hoping for before this window closes.

As far as signings are concerned, we'll be talking also about Celtic, because they're firing them in right, left and centre at the moment. Mika Bower dropped in yesterday off the back of the impressive Kasper Høgh, Camilo Duran, and I think they've got others in the pipeline as well. So I think there's a lot to be excited about for the Celtic fans, but it's whether these signings are able to actually hit the ground running. And let me not at this point forget Hassan Hassan, who's also signed, who'll play on the wing. So you've got four players with a substantial amount of money spent by Celtic. It remains to be seen whether they can all fit in the way Duran and Høgh have at the moment.

So, a just a mention of Hearts, a 1-1 credible draw at Tynecastle, and I think their manager, like Derek McInnes, will take time. Give us your thoughts on it as well. Join us at four if you can, because we'll also be looking to, not only Kilmarnock against Ayr, Aberdeen, Dundee and Falkirk, Ross County. We also have Dundee United against Celtic, which is an evening kickoff on the Saturday. I'll be up there at Tannadice. Hearts and Partick Thistle, Hibs and Partick on the Sunday, I'll be there with Roughie for that, as well as Stenhousemuir, Motherwell, and Rangers, St Mirren to look forward to.

There you have it, lots to discuss on the football today. And interestingly enough, if you want to listen to a fan, we've got Keith McKenzie, who is a Hibs fan, who's on Fanzone with the Scottish Football Union talking about Hibs' performance last night and a look ahead to the season from a Hibs perspective. That's Fanzone. The Journos is out there. The Football Show's on today. Join us if you can on PLZ Soccer's YouTube channel.
