The panel take apart the media storm around Martin O'Neill's post-match press conference, the "honey" accusation, the reporter at the centre of it, and ask whether the whole thing was blown out of all proportion.
Did Martin O'Neill say "honey" or "Connie"?
One of the accusations was that O'Neill called the reporter "honey" during a bad-tempered interview, and it took off on social media, but the reporter, Connie McLaughlin, came out and clarified that he said "Connie". The panel reckon it was seized upon, that O'Neill looked "tired and flat", and that the noise around it took attention away from the football.
Was the press storm blown out of proportion?
The panel argue the story gained extra traction because a female reporter was asking the questions, while being clear she is "brilliant, a really good reporter" asking exactly the right things. From a manager's point of view, the message is simple: you will always get asked awkward questions, you do not always have to answer them, and O'Neill, "a seasoned campaigner", could have deflected it better rather than fuelling the fire.
