Connie McLaughlin came to defence of Celtic manager Martin O'Neill after bad-tempered interview live on TNT Sports. Viewers misheard O'Neill as saying "honey". However the reporter has since said that he said "Connie".
Peter Martin, Hugh MacDonald, Gordon Parks and special guest Owen Coyle unpick Celtic's 1-3 Europa League collapse at home to Ferencvaros, and the "car crash" TNT Sports interview that followed, the one where viewers accused Martin O'Neill of calling reporter Connie McLaughlin "honey".
Did Martin O'Neill say "honey" or "Connie"?
The accusation "got blown up" on social media, but the reporter has since clarified that O'Neill said "Connie", not "honey". The panel come firmly to Connie McLaughlin's defence, calling her "brilliant, a really good reporter", and argue the exchange was a legitimate, bad-tempered post-match interview that was amplified out of all proportion by modern narratives and the fact that she is a female reporter.
Why did Celtic collapse against Ferencvaros?
On the football, the panel are damning. They call the performance "part two" of the Ibrox defeat, with "no discernible pattern of play", a game that "slipped gently into the night" without a fight. They break down a wonderful Ferencvaros goal, Celtic's disorganisation at the back, and a worrying lack of physicality against a side that, like Rangers last Sunday, simply got "in their faces".
