'Their time is up as well.' - Peter Martin turns his fire on the Celtic board after Celtic 0-1 Rangers: no forward planning, only a one-year deal for Martin O'Neill, and a boardroom that will not be told what to do. O'Neill may yet walk to protect his legacy, but the real reckoning, Peter argues, is coming for the board, with the November AGM the next flashpoint and "more pain" before any real change.

O'Neill may quit to protect his legacy as Celtic board's time is up too - Peter Martin argues Celtic's one-year deal for Martin O'Neill shows a lack of forward planning, predicting he may step aside to protect his legacy now he's delivered the title and cup. He also says the Celtic board's time is up, with more fan unrest expected around the November AGM.

Is the Celtic board the real problem?
For Peter, absolutely. O'Neill staying or going "will not solve the problems" because Celtic's problems run deep and sit in the boardroom: a lack of ambition he traces back to selling Kyogo in January 2025, a strategy built on profit and accountancy rather than competing, and no long-term plan. Until Dermot Desmond sells up, he argues, "this board is a shambles", the whole structure needs to change, and the November AGM will bring more pain before any real change comes.
