KEEP MARTIN O’NEILL IN CHARGE?🍀 We asked Celtic fans at the Scottish Cup Final if they’d want to keep their legendary manager at the helm next season… Keep Martin O'Neill in charge at Celtic? We asked Celtic fans at the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden — and the verdict was split.
PLZ Soccer's vox-pop with Celtic supporters outside Hampden on Cup Final day captures the moment when "what next for Celtic" stopped being a TV studio question and started being a supporter conversation. Four fans, four different verdicts — but a common thread.
🟢 The case for KEEPING Martin O'Neill as Celtic manager:
"What Martin O'Neill has done for Celtic Football Club this season is unbelievable… he deserves a seat at a table. This is his final swan song today perhaps. Let's get behind the team, let's get behind Martin — if he's there next year, he gets my vote."
🔴 The case for THANKING HIM and moving on:
"Martin's an absolute legend and we'll probably put a statue up of him. I think he deserves a position within the club. But for all the great he's done this season, I think we just cap that off, thank him for what he's done, and take the next steps forward."
🟢 The "let him enjoy life" angle:
"I'd always want Martin O'Neill — I think he's a legend and always will be. There should be a statue. But I'd rather he just took time out and enjoyed life now. He needs to relax a bit, and I'm sure his family thinks the same."
⚖️ The conditional yes:
"It wouldn't be my first choice, but you can't argue against it, can you? If he wins a double, he's come in twice and absolutely changed the club. But it'd need to be a year, maybe two max — can't be anything more than that."
