Motherwell manager Alfred Johansson reflects on the first half of Motherwell 0-4 Aberdeen at Fir Park in the Scottish Premiership, a half he rated despite going in 1-0 down. Johansson says his side didn't find their tens, wingers or the nine in behind often enough, going down one side too often instead, and believed that fixing the attacking phase would be enough to win the game after the break.
Motherwell's manager reflects on a good first half undone by too many one-sided attacks instead of finding tens, wingers and the nine in behind, with the team going in 1-0 up at half-time. He says fixing the attacking phase should be enough to win the game.
Alfred Johansson Post Match Interview Transcript (Motherwell 0-4 Aberdeen - Scottish Premiership):
A result difficult to take, but what are your feelings on the way your team played?
I think we played a good first half. There are things to adjust to be even more dangerous. Normally we have really good scenarios in the first half that we're normally really good at, in our late build-up phase: finding our tens, or our wingers in behind, or even the nine in behind. I think we didn't accomplish that tonight. We had too many situations where we tried to go down one side instead of finding those players. They go into half-time 1-0, and it feels like, okay, it's not perfect, but it feels like if we adjust our attacking phase, finding our players in their best positions like we're normally quite good at, then we'll go out in the second half and win the game.
