‘One of the lowest in my career’ | Ayr United manager Gary Naysmith is gutted after his side are beaten 3-2 by Kilmarnock at the death in a Scottish League Cup Ayrshire derby thriller. Naysmith could not fault his players' effort and their sticking to the game plan, but a late mistake by goalkeeper Harry Stone and Nicky Clecenco's 90th-minute winner sealed a painful defeat.
Gary Naysmith post match interview transcript (Kilmarnock 3-2 Ayr United - Scottish League Cup)
"Yeah, gutted. Really gutted. Couldn't have asked for any more. But obviously you can't ask for more because you've lost the game. But in terms of their effort, sticking to the game plan, couldn't have asked for any more. Obviously we're a wee bit disappointed with the last 10 minutes. I think we can make a challenge before the boy runs 50 or 60 yards for the second. And Harry's just made a mistake. He's been absolutely outstanding for us since he came in. He's made a mistake, and there wasn't enough time for us to try and get back into the game, really. So yeah, I'm gutted, really. I think you can say it too easy, but this is definitely one of the lowest I've felt, definitely as a manager, but maybe in my whole career."
