Celtic shareholders had the chance to question the Hoops board at the club’s annual AGM today.
Supporters gathered at Celtic Park in front of the club hierarchy, including Michael Nicholson, Brendan Rodgers and Peter Lawwell.
Here PLZ Soccer looks at the five main issues to arise from today’s AGM.
STADIUM REDEVELOPMENT
Supporters queried the club’s plans, if any to redevelop the 60,000 seater stadium in the near future.
CEO Michael Nicholson insists the club are consistently discussing areas of improvement at the stadium.
The Celtic chief went onto claim this would be a more viable option if the club was part of the English Premier League.
MARK LAWWELL PRAISED
Brendan Rodgers and Peter Lawwell came to the defence of former Head of Recruitment Mark Lawwell.
The former recruitment chief left the club earlier this year and his appointment was discussed at today’s AGM.
Current Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers defended the ex-employee, praising the ‘fantastic’ job he did at the club.
It was reported Mark Lawwell played a pivotal role in the appointment of Ange Postecoglou in 2021.
CELTIC END – WILL IT HAPPEN?
One shareholder enquired about the possibility of the ‘The Celtic End’. This is being proposed as a safe standing area in the Jock Stein stand.
This would involve relocating season ticket holders who currently occupy this section of the stadium.
CEO Michael Nicholson said there is ‘demand’ for the section, however the club are still working through the club questionnaire that was issued this summer.
AWAY TICKETS -& UEFA FINES
One supporter was concerned over the distribution of away tickets and the fines issued by UEFA in recent seasons.
Chairman Peter Lawwell branded the fines ‘unacceptable’. While, Michael Nicholson responded to concerns over away tickets by insisting it’s a ‘long standing issue, but not just a Celtic issue.’
