This was victory at a canter as Rangers eased to three points against a Ross County side who offered little resistance.
A double from Ianis Hagi and further goals from John Souttar and a James Tavernier penalty gave the hosts a comfortable three points.
In truth, the game was over by the interval with Philippe Clement’s side heading into the break three goals to the good after an opening period which Rangers dominated.
Ianis Hagi, central to all of the goals, got them off and running after Vaclav Cerny had been allowed to cut inside and fire off a shot. It was repelled by Ross County stopper Jordan Amissah but Hagi was sharp to the rebound as he punched to prod the ball into the net.
From there on in to was a one-way procession towards the County goal. Hagi doubled Rangers’ advantage after his free-kick took a wicked deflection off the wall, wrong-footed Amissah and ended up in the back of the net.
There was a third as Hagi’s corner was headed on by Nico Raskin with John Souttar, in his first start of the year, comfortably converted.
There might have been a second for the Scotland defender. He had the ball in the net at the start of the second period only for VAR to rule it off with Cyriel Dessers off in the build-up.
There was little of note for Rangers to be concerned about at the other end of the pitch, although Jack Butland did leave Hamza Igamane in little doubt about his responsibilities after a slack pass allowed James Brown to send an effort just off the top of the Rangers crossbar.
By and large, though, it was one way traffic.
Tavernier netted the fourth from the spot after Dessers went down following a challenge from Kacper Lopata with Steven McLean pointing to the spot, a call that was confirmed by a VAR check.
There was another cheer when on-loan Lille centre-half Rafael Fernandes was introduced in the latter stages of the afternoon but it was a day when there was little to grumble about for Rangers.
