Paris St Germain hammered Brest 7-0 at the Parc des Princes to cruise into the last 16 of the Champions League with a 10-0 aggregate victory.

Seven different players were on the scoresheet as PSG recorded their biggest win in European competition in advancing to meet either Liverpool or Barcelona – the top two clubs from the league phase.

Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia extended PSG’s first-leg advantage before the interval and Luis Enrique’s side showed no mercy in the second half.

Vitinha, Desire Doue, Nuno Mendes, Goncalo Ramos and Senny Mayulu completed the rout in this one-sided all-French affair.

Brest had to make Champions League history to progress after their 3-0 defeat in Brittany last week.

No team has ever advanced after losing a home leg by three or more goals in the competition’s history and Brest had not won at this ground in 18 attempts – a record stretching back to 1981.

Barcola rippled the side netting from Fabian Ruiz’s cut back before Brest almost soured the party mood inside the Parc des Princes.

Abdallah Sima’s 13th-minute centre travelled across the PSG box for Mathias Pereira Lage to leave Gianluigi Donnarumma rooted to the spot.

But before the ball could nestle in the bottom corner of Donnarumma’s net, Marquinhos appeared to sweep it off the line.

Donnarumma celebrated with Marquinhos as if the tie itself was won and it effectively was after 20 minutes when Barcola notched his 14th goal of the season.

Barcola raced on to Ruiz’s pass over the top and twisted his way past Luck Zogbe, working the ball onto his left foot and beating Gregoire Coudert inside his near post.

Kvaratskhelia had skied an earlier opportunity but he doubled PSG’s lead on the night six minutes before the break.

Barcola touched on Joao Neves’ cross and Kvaratskhelia slid in at the far post, scoring for the second time since his January move from Napoli.

Brest responded with Donnarumma saving from Pierre Lees-Melou and Mama Balde sending the rebound over but the visitors were fortunate to escape on the stroke of half-time as Neves rattled the crossbar.

Both sides might have been forgiven for going through the motions in the second half but Brest were determined to break their duck.

Lees-Melou shifted the ball onto his left foot to strike a post and Donnarumma tipped away Brendan Chardonnet’s header.

Those chances stung PSG into action as Barcola was denied before the ball recycled for Vitinha to repeat his first-leg goal with a precise low shot.

Brest’s defending was almost non-existent in the final half-hour as PSG broke through at will.

Doue produced a polished finish high into the net and Mendes, Ramos and 18-year-old Mayulu all converted from close range.
