Falkirk moved three points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship with a 3-0 win away to basement boys Airdrieonians.
Falkirk took a ninth-minute lead when Gary Oliver’s header deflected off Ben Wilson for an own goal and Brad Spencer doubled the advantage in outstanding style shortly before the break as he fired in from an angle following a corner, with Barney Stewart heading in a third late on.
Ayr are up to second after coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Queen’s Park.
All five goals came in the second half, with the Spiders seemingly taking control with two goals in six minutes from Jack Turner and Zak Rudden shortly after the restart.
But Marcus Rus pulled one back in the 66th minute before Ben Dempsey equalised in the 75th minute, with Curtis Main striking the winner four minutes later.
In League One, Arbroath came from behind to win 2-1 at rock-bottom Dumbarton and go five points clear of Stenhousemuir at the top.
Dumbarton stunned their promotion-chasing visitors when Michael Ruth cracked a fourth-minute shot in off the underside of the crossbar and it might have got worse, with Ruth heading against the crossbar soon after.
But Arbroath recovered the composure to equalise through Andy Winter in the 15th minute and Ryan Dow prodded in the winner early in the second half.
In League Two, basement boys Forfar stunned Stranraer, with a late fightback securing a 2-1 win despite them playing the entire second half with 10 men.
Stranraer led through Ryan Edgar’s shot in the 20th minute and things got worse for the visitors when Mackenzie Lemon was sent off in first-half stoppage time.
But Craig Slater brought Forfar level with a 75th-minute free-kick and there was more late drama to come as Bradley Rodden scored a stoppage-time penalty to win it, leaving Forfar three points adrift of Bonnyrigg Rose at the foot of the table.
