Christian Pulisic double helps AC Milan complete comeback win at Lecce

Christian Pulisic scored twice as AC Milan fought back from 2-0 down in the second half to win 3-2 at Lecce on Saturday.

The USA forward’s double completed the turnaround at the Stadio Ettore Giardiniero after Joao Felix’s deflected strike had brought the visitors back into the Serie A contest.

Lecce had been in a commanding position after goals from Nikola Krstovic in each half.

His first came after seven minutes as he took up an attack following a break from deep by Thorir Helgason and lashed a powerful shot into the net from outside the area.

Milan thought they had equalised when Matteo Gabbia volleyed in from a Pulisic free-kick but it was ruled out for offside by VAR.

Santiago Gimenez, who was also denied a goal by VAR early in the game, forced two saves from Wladimiro Falcone as Milan continued to push.

Krstovic doubled Lecce’s lead just before the hour when he drilled a shot into the bottom corner from a Frederic Guilbert cutback.

Felix began Milan’s fightback after 68 minutes, although he enjoyed a stroke of luck as his shot from a Rafael Leao cross was heading wide before being diverted in for an own goal by Antonino Gallo.

Pulisic equalised from the penalty spot five minutes later after being fouled by Federico Baschirotto.

The former Chelsea player settled the contest nine minutes from time when he raced onto a Leao cross to volley in at the far post.
