Celtic and Rangers B-teams faced off in the Glasgow Cup Final on Tuesday night. It was a chance for supporters to catch a glimpse of the next generation of talent progressing through the ranks – but who stood out on the night?

CELTIC

KYLE URE

Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, Kyle Ure? The 19-year-old has all the attributes to be next in the lineage of Celtic’s midfield generals. Already blessed with the physique of a player years his senior, he is a constant voice on the pitch.

Ure has all the makings of an heir apparent to those big names that have gone before him and certainly looks like a first team player in waiting.

RHYS DARGIE

The 18-year-old looked menacing all evening coming in off the right. He was rewarded with his goal on the stroke of half time, this time drifting in through the middle to turn home a Jude Bonnar shot.

He dovetailed well with Sean McArdle inside of him and looked fearless when it came to driving towards goal.

RANGERS

AIDEN MCCALLION

The Light Blues number six has been highly thought of inside the building at the Rangers training centre this year. That rise has seen him make the bench in domestic games as well as in the Europa League quarter finals against Athletic Club.

His slender frame and soft feet may need to be hardened when the time comes to step up but his intelligence on the ball was clear for all in attendance to see.

CAMERON SCOTT

The left back had a tough test up against the aforementioned Dargie but gave as good as he got. Not a full back that seemed to bomb on as much as is now common in the modern game but always looked aware of the threats around him.

Picked up a nasty head injury in the second period which forced him off but the future looks bright when he returns to action.

NERAYSHO KASANWIRJO

A lovely moment for the 23-year-old, who returned to the pitch after missing five months through injury, when he put his side ahead.

The defender showed his first team class in the first half by striding up the field and rocketing home the opener after a considered turn in the opposition box.

Rangers have an option to buy the on-loan Feyenoord man who showed the Ibrox faithful his ability in patches before his season was cut short with injury.
