Ross Doohan could be set for a Scotland debut in Liechtenstein after being called into Steve Clarke’s squad to help solve a goalkeeping crisis.

The Aberdeen keeper has been called up along with 18-year-old Callan McKenna for Monday’s friendly in Vaduz.

Angus Gunn and Robby McCrorie have both withdrawn after suffering injuries at Hampden on Friday night.

Those blows saw 22-year-old Cieran Slicker handed a debut in the seventh minute and the Ipswich player endured a difficult night as Scotland lost 3-1 against Iceland.

The Under-21 international quickly conceded after giving the ball away himself and lost two more soft goals as he struggled with the occasion.

With Craig Gordon, Liam Kelly and Zander Clark unavailable through injury, Clarke has turned to Doohan for experienced cover.

The 27-year-old was Aberdeen’s second choice goalkeeper last season and has been tipped to return to Celtic this summer, where he would likely be third choice.

However, he played 18 times for the Dons last season amid injuries to number one Dimitar Mitov.

Doohan is approaching 200 first-team appearances having also turned out for the likes of Ayr, Ross County, Dundee United, Tranmere and Forest Green.

He also won 20 caps for Scotland at youth level, the bulk of them for the Under-21s.

Clarke had brought McKenna into the training squad in midweek with an eye on the future after expressing concern in recent months that the long-term future of the goalkeeping department had been neglected somewhat.

The teenager moved from Queen’s Park to Bournemouth in February 2024 after playing nine first-team games for the Spiders.

Kilmarnock goalkeeper McCrorie experienced a thigh problem in the warm-up on Friday, while Gunn soon suffered an ankle injury.
