Bayern Munich’s Lovro Zvonarek makes Grasshopper Zurich loan move

Bayern Munich’s Lovro Zvonarek has joined Grasshopper Zurich on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder spent last season at Sturm Graz, where he made 22 appearances and scored two goals to help them win the Austrian league.

Sporting director Christoph Freund told the Bayern website: “Lovro Zvonarek gained valuable experience in the Bundesliga and the Champions League last season at Sturm Graz, where he played his part in the defence of the Austrian league title.

“He’ll now take his next steps in Switzerland and get even more game time. We’ll continue to provide him with close support on his journey.”

Zvonarek, capped by Croatia at under-21 level, joined Bayern from Slaven Belupo three years ago and is under contract at the Bundesliga club until June 2027.

Bayern also announced on Tuesday morning that goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has signed a one-year contract extension.

The 36-year-old has made 103 competitive appearances over two spells with the Bavarian club, and has been described by Max Eberl, board member for sport, as “reliability personified”.

Eberl added: “He delivers what he promises – in the truest sense of the word. Characters like him are good for any team. We’re delighted he’ll be spending another season with us.”
