Wolves may not appoint Vitor Pereira’s successor until the upcoming international break as the Premier League strugglers weigh up their options.

The Molineux outfit are rock bottom of the standings having mustered just two points from their opening 10 matches.

That wretched form led Wolves to sack head coach Pereira on Sunday, just 45 days after the Portuguese signed a new three-year deal with the club.

All eight of his backroom staff left, with director of professional football Domenico Teti following by mutual consent on Tuesday, and the winless club are currently weighing up their options.

Under-21s head coach James Collins and under-18s boss Richard Walker are taking training ahead of Saturday’s trip to Chelsea.

PA understands an appointment is not imminent and could stretch into the international break.

Wolves had spoken to their former manager Gary O’Neil about the vacancy but the 42-year-old has reportedly withdrawn from the race.

Rob Edwards, manager of Championship high-fliers Middlesbrough, is the bookmakers’ favourite for the role at a club he represented as a player and began his coaching career with.

Ex-Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is second in the odds having been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen.

PA understands former Benfica manager Rui Vitoria has not been contacted about taking over at Wolves, despite sources indicating to the contrary.

Wolves travel to Chelsea on Saturday evening and return from the international break with a home game against Crystal Palace on November 22.
