Kevin De Bruyne is set for an extended absence after being injured taking a penalty in Napoli’s Serie A victory over Inter Milan.
The Belgium midfielder opened the scoring from the spot after 33 minutes of Napoli’s 3-1 home win, but clutched his thigh straight away and left the action soon after.
A Napoli statement read: “After sustaining an injury in the match against Inter on Saturday, Kevin De Bruyne underwent diagnostic tests at Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed a high-grade lesion to the biceps femoris muscle in his right thigh.

“He has already begun the rehabilitation process.”
Napoli have not put a timeline on the return of the 34-year-old former Manchester City player, who has scored four goals in eight league appearances.
But reports in Italy suggest De Bruyne will not play again in 2025, with his return expected in the new year.
