Bodo/Glimt pulled off their second straight stunning Champions League upset to reach a play-off for the knockout stage.

The Norwegian minnows, who shocked mighty Manchester City 3-1 last week, won 2-1 at Atletico Madrid, condemning the Spaniards to join them in the play-offs in the process.

Kasper Hogh, who scored twice against City, was the hero again with the winner on the hour mark.

Atletico took an early lead when David Hancko’s cross found Alexander Sorloth to head in the opener.

The hosts went close to a second through Pablo Barrios, whose shot was saved by Nikita Haikin, and with a Nico Gonzalez header which flew wide.

Instead the visitors from inside the Arctic Circle equalised 10 minutes before half-time when Fredrik Sjovold fired home.

Haikin came to the underdogs’ rescue again with a fine save to keep out another Nico Gonzalez header, before Julian Alvarez sent a header wide.

The winner arrived after a crazy goalmouth scramble with Hogh, a transfer target for Celtic and Norwich this month, seeing his initial shot saved by Jan Oblak.

The ball pinged around the Atleti penalty area with the hosts unable to clear and High eventually slammed the loose ball into the net to seal another famous win and prolong their Champions League adventure.
