Glasgow City have bolstered the defence of their title with the addition of American midfielder Carlee Giammona.
The 23-year-old has signed an 18-month deal after arriving from Mexican side Monterrey.
Capped at youth level for the USA national team, Giammona is determined to bolster City’s defence of the title.
Leanne Ross’ side are currently in third spot as they trail an unbeaten Rangers side by 8 points, albeit that their weekend win over Celtic has cut the deficit on the Parkhead side to just two points.
“I’m super excited to continue the current season with the team and really happy to be part of the club,” said Gommona.
“After doing my research, I found Glasgow City was an amazing club so it makes a great next step for me.”
And Ross, who has also signed Fiona Ross and Finnish winger Wilma Forsblom in the window, is enthused by the addition of Giammona.
“In Carlee we have signed a powerful and athletic attacking midfield player with that all important eye for goal,” she said. “Her game intelligence to find pockets of space as well as her awareness to get turned and drive forward or find defence splitting passes fits perfectly with the attacking style of football we play at Glasgow City.
“Carlee has proven her ability to deliver impressive performances, assist and score all different types of goals throughout her time at college and during the start to her professional career playing for Liga MX feminil side, Monterrey in Mexico. Her technical and physical attributes will without doubt strengthen our squad and add to the attacking options available for the remainder of this season and beyond.”
