Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes‘ side have been dealt with another hammer blow with defender Corrie Ndaba facing a two match ban after he received a red card against Hibernian on Saturday afternoon.
The Killie boss has had more than a couple dealings with VAR this season and has had enough of the advanced technology after he came away from a meeting with Crawford Allan more disappointed than what he went in.
Speaking to the media today McInnes stated that he feels the technology would be better run with ex referees running it and having ‘the country’s best’ match officials doing their job on the pitch.
The former Rangers man highlighted that Nick Walsh is on of Scotland’s best referees but feels he would be better suited officiating the game on the pitch instead of sitting in the VAR studio.
“We’re not in the position in Scotland to have our best referee’s on the pitch. I know they need to be trained as well in the VAR and that side of it.
“Get ex referee’s who don’t have the capacity to run about the pitch anymore, but they’re still sharp and they still know the rules and what it is.
“I’ve said that since it came in that we’ve got to utilise the referee’s that we’ve got. And if we don’t have a whole host of options, keep the best ones on thee pitch.
Kilmarnock make the journey to Fir Park this weekend to take on Stuart Kettlewell’s Motherwell side in a bid to edge themselves that bit closer to securing a European place.
