St Mirren striker Mikael Mandron has spoken about a missed opportunity to pull on the Scotland shirt at youth level.
The French striker qualifies to represent the Tartan Army due to an Aberdeen born grandparent and was called up to the under-19s squad when on the books of Sunderland, but was unable to do so due to complications with his passport.
He said; “I didn’t have my passport so unfortunately it didn’t happen at the time. I would have loved to play for Scotland at that time”.
Despite admitting his desire to feature at international level, the former Motherwell man insisted that he doesn’t hold any regrets about his career path.
“I think obviously it would have been a great experience for me, to get to know what it’s like to play at international level, for my profile as well. But you can’t really have any regrets you know. If it didn’t happen it didn’t happen” he added.
Mandron, who has netted 4 times for the Buddies this season, also expressed his enjoyment at sitting 5th in the league table after an impressive first half of the season.
He said: “It’s literally night and day, your only looking forward and you not looking over your shoulder. You’re going into every game feeling confident because when you’re winning and when things are going well its literally the best sport in the world.
“I think I’m improving a lot under the gaffer and the assistant manager; I feel good.
“This is the last stretch now, were going to go at it game by game and I think as a team were feeling strong and were feeling confident.
