Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell is still on the hunt for a striker with only six days of the January transfer window remaining.
Earlier this month Motherwell’s top goal scorer Mika Biereth was recalled back to his parent club Arsenal, leaving the Steelmen short up top.
Oli Shaw returned to Barnsley, Jon Obika will miss out through injury leaving Theo Bair as the clubs only fit front man.
With such a lack of strikers in the squad, Kettlewell hopes to get at least one goalscorer over the line for the time being before looking to add another.
” I want to get one on first and then I’ll start to see where Ia m from there. I want to see if I can go and get one layer at the top end of the park.
“What does that deal look like? What does that leave us in terms of the finances, where would we be sitting at the end of that?
” There’s so many things in question, I could sit here and tell you I want one, two, three or four, everything depends on money and it depends on availability. That situation is ever evolving, it’s changing all the time.
” We’re having to shift the goal posts constantly depending on being turned down by a player or whether we can afford one, or if we can afford one does that mean it’s only one rather than two.
” Just by the very nature of where I am just now , I am a little bit of a pessimist on this front and I apologize for it, but because we’ve had so many injuries we just have to think about having that cover and insuring that it’s more ore than one.
” History would tell us this season that we’ve lost so many players and lost a lot of game time to those injures we’ve spoke about.”
