05 Aug Deila warns Celtic will get even better
Ronny Deila has vowed Celtic will get even better after they sealed their place in the Champions League play-off round.
A 0-0 draw against Qarabag in Baku, Azerbaijan was enough to put themselves in the hat for Friday’s draw following Dedryck Boyata’s solitary header in the first leg.
It was a tough, nervy match for the Hoops but the Norwegian boss hailed his side’s efforts and warned their next opponents to expect an even better Celtic.
“We are developing all the time. We need games like this to become a better team and we learned something in the last home game and we’re going to be even better when we meet the next opponent,” he told BT Sport.
“I’m happy it was a very hard match and I’m proud of the boys. The team effort today was unbelievable. I thought we defended well they hardly had a chance just a couple of half chances and that’s very good against a good team.
“Offensively we want to do more but I don’t think about that now I’m just happy to get through. When you come around Europe you can see other teams can play football.
“We met a very good team today with good results last year but we made it that’s the most important thing though we have things to learn. We were calm, patient and showed a lot of discipline and that is very important in European matches.”
