What the papers say

New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is set to sit down with 22-year-old winger Amad Diallo to discuss a new contract with his current deal running out next year, the Daily Telegraph reports. If United choose not to trigger a 12-month contract extension, Diallo, who has impressed under Amorim, could open talks with other clubs about a pre-contract from January.

Mohamed Salah could be open to signing a one-year deal with Liverpool, the Athletic report. The 32-year-old has long been linked with a move away from the Premier League and is said to be frustrated with the Reds’ handling of his contract negotiations. But the Egypt forward is reportedly yet to have serious talks with another club and is expecting a new extension offer from Liverpool.

Tottenham and Newcastle are vying for the attention of Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov, according to the Daily Telegraph. The 20-year-old, who has started nine of his club’s 13 matches this season, is viewed as a promising young talent. Paris St Germain have also been linked with the Uzbekistan international, with reports more English Premier League clubs could make their interest known in coming months.

The Guardian reports West Ham could approach Porto boss Sergio Conceicao to replace Julen Lopetegui. West Ham’s current manager is under increasing pressure after his side’s home loss to Arsenal.
