Atletico Madrid continued their Champions League revival after roaring to a 6-0 win over Sparta Prague in the Czech capital.

Julian Alvarez and Angel Correa each scored twice as Diego Simeone’s men built on their dramatic win at Paris St Germain earlier this month.

Atletico’s hopes of progressing had been hanging by a thread after successive defeats to Lille and Benfica earlier in their campaign.

But they continued their resurgence – and vastly improved their goal difference – with a dominant performance against their hosts which began with Alvarez’s opener after 15 minutes.

The Argentinian star won then converted a free-kick to give his side the lead, before Marcos Llorente hit his first goal since returning from injury to put his team 2-0 up at the break.

Atletico continued their dominant form after the interval with Alvarez grabbing his second before the hour mark, and Antoine Griezmann coming off the bench to improve his Champions League tally.

Correa, the late goal hero in Paris, put the gloss on the final scoreline with goals in the 85th and 89th minutes to complete the one-sided rout.
